Welcome to Angelic Complementary Therapies November 2025 Newsletter

ree

How was your October? I hope it was enjoyable, peaceful, exciting, or whatever lovely outcome you were hoping for.

And now it’s November. I find there’s a certain charm to November — the soft crunch of leaves underfoot, the golden light that slips through the trees, and that unmistakable scent of woodsmoke in the air. It’s the month for slow mornings, hearty suppers, and the comfort of a good book or a favourite jumper.

As the days become shorter, may your evenings be filled with warmth — whether that’s a steaming mug in your hands, spending time in good company, or a quiet moment to simply pause and breathe.

Here’s to finding little joys in the calm before December’s bustle.

Today marks the anniversary of our beloved Jeffie leaving this earthly plane. How I miss him. Not a day goes by when I don’t think of him. He was one of a kind and loved by everyone who met him. We were so very blessed the day Jeffie came into our lives, and words cannot describe the grief I felt when it was time for him to pass. I will never forget the wisdom in his eyes.

At the time, I never imagined having another cat. But with time, I felt guided to give another a loving family home. That soon became apparent that we were to get two. We left it to the hands of the universe, and were gifted Basil and Sprout. I sometimes imagine Jeffie “guiding” Sprout and Basil through life. They are a true blend of Jeffie, and they are loved very much. Even as I write this, Sprout is helping me write. She’s purring away, with the occasional “If I walk across the keyboard, I can help mum even more!” or a full-body sprawl across the laptop, making it impossible to do anything. Jeffie used to do this. Interestingly, Baz never has. Baz is the one who knows when I need to stop, sit down, and just be. He’ll come up to me, meow, and once I sit down, he’ll ‘make biscuits’ on my lap, then kiss my nose before curling up to sleep on my lap — just as Jeffie did. They’re now six months old, and I wonder where their lives will lead them. As long as it’s with me, then I’m very happy.

The kittens have also enjoyed getting to know Fred. Sprout was definitely the more inquisitive and genuinely looked quite concerned when she saw me putting him in the fridge for hibernation! Poor little love.

Last month, we laid our lovely Dad/Grandad’s ashes to rest. The headstone is now in place. Like Jeffie, I still find it hard to believe that he is no longer “here” with us and seeing his name here, makes it all the more real. Maybe take a moment to call or hug a loved one right now, because one day, it may be too late.

Preparing for the colder months

This time of year can sometimes be a challenging for many people, both physically and mentally. Generally, there are more bugs, colds and viruses around, so our health can take a knock. The winter months can make it more challenging to exercise and eat well. It’s the time of year when we’re more inclined to eat comfort food or overindulge.

ree

Fred, our tortoise, needs to hibernate. However, many people also desire to stay indoors and hibernate - lock the world out and the cooler weather. Dare I say it… it’s so important for us to get lots of fresh air, eat wholesome foods and exercise – not just for our physical health but also for our mental wellbeing.

It is proven that we are more likely to let our wellbeing slip in the winter months. With shorter natural light days, colder temperatures, etc, it can be too easy to slip into unhelpful lifestyle choices and neglect our wellbeing. When, in fact, this is the time we need to put in that extra effort to look after ourselves and cultivate healthy habits to stay well.

Here are some useful tips:

·       Winter & daylight

We all need daylight to help regulate our circadian rhythm (our 24-hour internal clock that manages sleepiness and alertness). A deficiency of daylight can make you feel sluggish and tired, especially if you work indoors for long hours during the day. We often feel more energetic in the lighter months because we spend more time outside.

Take any opportunity to be outdoors; it doesn’t need to be sunny. Simply spending time outside in natural daylight, connected to the Earth - trust me, you'll feel so much better. Don’t let the rain discourage you.

·       Wash your hands

During the height of Covid, we all became very adept at washing our hands more often and thoroughly (which is quite odd, as it’s something we should inherently do). Handwashing is especially crucial during the winter months when colds, flu, and viruses are prevalent. It’s very easy to unconsciously touch your face, eyes, and mouth, and that’s one of the quickest ways to catch an illness. I’m not suggesting that washing your hands will prevent all illnesses, but it’s a straightforward way to reduce the risk of catching more than necessary. Our immune system already works hard enough without additional burdens.

·       Healthy foods/healthy gut

We all understand the importance of eating well. A healthy, balanced diet results in a healthy gut. And a healthy gut contributes to a much healthier person. I’m not a nutritionist, but I try to look after myself as best I can. I know what my body enjoys and what it doesn’t. I do my best to eat a varied, well-balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole foods – not processed. Aim to reduce sugar, as it suppresses the immune system and causes inflammation.

Increase your vitamin intake, especially Vitamin D, during the winter months. Consider exploring supplements. (It is best to seek professional advice before doing so, especially if you are currently taking medication.)

·       Hydration

Staying well hydrated is extremely important at any time of year. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, but reduce intake in the evening. Swap regular tea or coffee for a herbal version without caffeine. Personally, I love hot water with either a squeeze of lemon or fresh mint—it's so simple and cheap, and my body appreciates it.

·       Walking

Walking is not only free, but you can do it anywhere and at any time, with no special or expensive equipment needed. It also boosts your immune system while you get daylight hours AND exercise — it’s a winner. It's even better if you’re able to walk with a buddy! If the cooler weather puts you off, put on a nice warm coat, and once you get going, you won’t even feel the cold — cooler weather is great for invigorating and stimulating the senses.

·       Manage stress

Even that word evokes a terrible feeling! It's very hard to eliminate stress from our lives, but where possible, we should try to manage it as effectively as we can. Stress has appeared in so many people I see in my work recently that I feel motivated to write a separate blog on this topic where I can explain how and why it occurs and the impact it has on our bodies. It's very hard to eliminate stress from our lives, but where possible, we should try to manage it as effectively as we can. We all know stress is harmful to our mental and physical health, but it also weakens our immune system, making us more susceptible to colds and viruses.

If you are feeling run down and overstretched, then it is time to slow down, prioritise, and manage what you can do. Take time out for yourself, and don’t feel guilty about it. Remember, you are important.

·       Sleep

A good night’s sleep is one of the best ways to strengthen our immune system. We all feel better after a deep, restful, and rejuvenating sleep.

I cannot emphasise enough how vital a healthy sleep routine is (I covered this in a previous newsletter). Essentially, it involves going to bed and waking up at consistent times, keeping the bedroom cool and dark (between 16-18 degrees Celsius), and avoiding technology. Lastly, it includes creating a bedroom environment that you look forward to sleeping in—something calming and welcoming, a true sanctuary.

Mindfulness

ree

As the darker evenings draw in, how about a bit of mindful watching?

Choose something to watch – a film, a documentary, a comedy, or a live sports event – and give it your full attention. Put your mobile away. Don’t eat or drink. Now is the time to become fully engrossed in what is unfolding in front of you. Be fully present.

Pay attention to any emotions you may experience. Notice the sensations in your body. Does your body language reveal anything? Do you laugh or tense up at times?

My elder son has taught me this and, at times, still does (he is studying film production at university).

This is a way to stay mindful when we tend to switch off. Being mindful will provide you with a more fulfilling experience.

Quote for the moment

"All the greatest things are simple"

By Winston Churchill

Crystal/Stone of the month - Petrified (Fossilised) Wood

ree

Petrified Wood is technically a fossil and a crystal comes from the trunks and branches of ancient wood. The two spheres I purchased in Amsterdam are 55 million years old! This is a stone of transformation and helps you feel safe and secure, calming down survival based fears. It is also known for bringing patience. Petrified Wood strengthens the skeletal system, hair and skin – as well as strengthening one’s backbone physically and in terms of self-will.

YES!

The Angel Guide Oracle Deck, Kyle Gray

Yes. Yes. Yes. The answer is yes. Proceed. Go forth. Achieve. Enjoy. Don’t hold back. The time is now. Rise up. Fly high. Light up. Express yourself. Experience. Share.

This card is a huge thumbs-up. If you are making a decision, the answer is yes. Go for it. This is a time for positivity, celebration, and progress. Angels are encouraging you to let in the light and enjoy it. All your hard work is paying off.

I wonder what this November has in store for us all. Whatever it brings, I hope it is fun and peaceful. Maybe consider ways to spend quality time with the people in your life or with yourself. Stay present and, as I always say, be kind to everyone, but most importantly, be kind to yourself. I look forward to seeing you soon, with love and gratitude.
