What is Professional Clinical Reflexology (PCR)?

Advanced training

The Langstone-Wring Method TM of Professional Clinical Reflexology TM, consists of advanced specialist techniques. These are applied by a unique delivery incorporating acupressure points, manipulation and massage which is very gentle to receive yet effective to the body. The method is very gentle and specifically designed to calm the body. PCR’s primary function is to help the autonomic nervous system and relax the sympathetic nervous system drive (fight or flight, adrenalin, cortisol) and achieve the calm state of the parasympathetic system (homeostasis, rest and digest).

PCR – The Langstone-Wring Method TM is based on the understanding that emotional and physical symptoms have a symbolic relationship – physical symptoms trigger emotional responses and emotions have the potential to trigger physical symptoms. This cycle has the potential to create further seemingly unconnected symptoms/reactions/emotions. Often these “unconnected” symptoms share the common factor of being triggered due to the “fight or flight” response being triggered. Communication between the mind and body via chemical messages that flow back and forth along the neurological pathways and systems. By reducing the sympathetic system and balancing the parasympathetic system it reduces both physical and psychological symptoms.

One of the main areas The Langstone-Wring Method TM incorporates is the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is the major nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system. The body needs the parasympathetic system in order to heal and digest. If we do not or are unable to access this system then we will be stressed which, as mentioned above, has implications for ill health in physical terms.

The vagus nerve is a cranial nerve that connects the brain to most, if not all, of the organs in the thorax and abdomen. The vagus nerve travels to the ear, throat, lungs and diaphragm, heart, liver, gallbladder, oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, small and large intestines. It also lowers heart rate and blood pressure.

This practice is suitable for all ages, pregnancy and palliative care. It can help with chronic and acute conditions affecting the hormonal, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, nervous, hormonal, urinary, reproductive, digestive and circulatory systems. It takes reflexology to another new level.

PCR can be added to any reflexology treatment on request. There's no extra charge.
