It’s March! Yay, Spring is on the way, meaning Fred (the tortoise) will be waking up from hibernation soon, and Baz and Sprout will be allowed outside to play! I love all the seasons we are lucky to experience here in the UK, but I do feel that extra buzz of joy when Spring begins—nature wakes up from the quiet, healing time of winter, and the flowers start to decorate our gardens and hedgerows. There was also a day last week that felt wonderfully warm and sunny—it was blissful and a sneak peek of what’s to come. I don’t think we need any more rain for a while; I was beginning to get webbed feet!

How was your February? Mine was fairly balanced overall. Sadly, my Mum’s younger brother passed away; he was the last in that generation. He’s now with his wife and family, who had passed before him. What was very strange, though, was that he, along with my Mum and Derrick (her partner), all passed on the same day! Yes, different years, but the same day nonetheless.

The Spring Equinox & Ostara: A Time of Balance and Renewal

As winter gently fades, the spring equinox marks the moment when day and night are nearly equal in length. In the Northern Hemisphere, this happens around March 19-21, welcoming the official start of spring! Days grow longer, flowers begin to bloom, and nature wakes up from its winter sleep.

Many cultures and traditions have celebrated this special time for centuries. One of these celebrations is Ostara, a festival in modern Pagan and Wiccan traditions. Ostara is named after Eostre, an ancient goddess of dawn and fertility (where the word "Easter" may come from!). It’s a time to honour new life, fresh starts, and the balance between light and dark.

Ways to Celebrate the Spring Equinox & Ostara

·      Spend time in nature – Take a walk, plant flowers, or simply enjoy the fresh air.

·      Decorate eggs – Eggs symbolise fertility and new beginnings, much like they do in Easter traditions.

·      Light a candle – A simple way to honour the growing sunlight and warmth.Set intentions – Think about what you want to grow in your life, just like seeds sprouting in spring!

Whether you celebrate the equinox scientifically, spiritually, or simply as a sign that warmer days are ahead, it's a wonderful time to welcome change, embrace renewal, and celebrate the changing season.

New Workshop

Mindfulness

5-Minute Mindfulness Spring Reset

1. Sit comfortably. Lengthen your spine and relax your shoulders.

Take three slow breaths:

·       Inhale through your nose.

·       Exhale through your mouth.

With each exhale, imagine releasing the heaviness of winter — stale thoughts, sluggish energy, emotional residue.

Silently say:

“I welcome this new season.”

2. Bring awareness to your senses:

·       Notice one sound.

·       Notice the temperature of the air on your skin.

·       Notice the light around you.

3. Place one hand over your heart and imagine a small seed inside you.

Ask gently:

“What in me is ready to grow?”

Don’t search for an answer. Let it arise naturally — a word, feeling, image, or simply quiet.

4. Choose one word for this season – energy, strength, lightness, courage or any other you feel inspired to use.

With each inhale, imagine sunlight warming your seed. With each exhale, imagine roots growing steady and strong.

Silently repeat:

“I trust my growth.”

Take one deeper breath.

Gently open your eyes.

Oracle Card

Grace

Gratitude Oracle by Angela Hartfield, artwork by Josephine Wall

When I connect in with this card, I’m immediately drawn to “there’s more to this world than we realise.” The universe is exponentially vast, and we only know a tiny part of it. The star constellations we recognise are merely a fraction of the stars that are actually out there. Look with wonder at what is visible and what we have yet to see. The mind can and tends to overthink; we often can’t see the wood for the trees. Our mind has immense potential if we only give it the space to unfold. Not everything has to be black and white, there is a vast array of colours to those willing to see and feel.

I wonder what this March has in store for each of us. Whatever it brings, may it be fun and peaceful. Maybe think of ways you can have quality time with the people in your life or quality time with yourself. Be present and, as I always say, be kind to all, but mostly yourself. I look forward to seeing you soon, with love and light.
